Does a Busabase backup include files and review history?

Hovhannes Vktarget

Exporting table data alone might miss field settings, attachments, and the history of reviewed changes. What's the right way to make a backup that can actually be restored later? Does the destination workspace need to be empty?

Yes, if you use busabase-cli backup. It exports a complete snapshot: the field structure, the actual attachment files, and the full review history. A plain table export only gives you the current data, with no structure and no history.

To restore, the destination space must be empty, because the restore keeps the original ids and would clash with existing content. If you self-host, there is also a separate whole-server backup script for disaster recovery; that one covers the entire instance, not a single space.
